    RECEIPT #HANK-G

    JAN 20, 2022

    Called it.

    PREDICTION BY

    Hank Green
But they are dramatically under-paying creators... a decision that I think is very bad for the creator community there, and also potentially long-term bad for the platform itself.

    FOLLOW-UP

As of August 2026, complaints about TikTok's low creator payouts persist, with many creators using it for top-of-funnel audience acquisition rather than primary income. This aligns with Green's assessment that underpaying creators is 'very bad for the creator community there' and 'potentially long-term bad for the platform itself,' as creator skepticism about building careers solely on TikTok has become widespread, despite the platform's continued popularity.

    RECEIPT #ERIC-S

    JAN 01, 2024

    Called it.

    PREDICTION BY

    Eric Seufert
Prediction 2: Less than 10% of game monetization in the EU shifts to sideloaded apps or alternative in‑app payments as the DMA goes into effect.

    FOLLOW-UP

Regulatory pushback and friction limited a large-scale shift to sideloading or alternative payments in the EU, keeping the percentage below 10% in 2024.

    RECEIPT #BEN-TH

    JAN 01, 2024

    Called it.

    PREDICTION BY

    Ben Thompson
Apple, probably more than any other company, deeply understands its position in the value chains in which it operates, and brings that position to bear to get other companies to serve its interests on its terms; we see it with developers, we see it with carriers, we see it with music labels, and now I think we see it with AI. Apple — assuming it delivers on what it showed with Apple Intelligence — is promising to deliver features only it can deliver, and in the process lock in its ability to compel partners to invest heavily in features it has no interest in developing but wants to make available to Apple’s users on Apple’s terms.

    FOLLOW-UP

Apple has indeed leveraged its device position to integrate multiple AI providers (as reported by Bloomberg and confirmed by Apple's actions), and is monetizing these third-party AI subscriptions through the App Store, generating significant revenue.

    RECEIPT #SCOTT-

    JAN 05, 2024

    Partially right.

    PREDICTION BY

    Scott Galloway
Meta’s 2024 Growth Vehicle: WhatsApp... 2024 is the year [it] bursts from Meta’s abdomen

    FOLLOW-UP

WhatsApp launched significant monetization features, contributing to Meta's revenue growth. However, its contribution was not dominant compared to Instagram/Facebook, and the 'burst' was more of a strong-stirring.
